Down in the quiet Black Belt country near Camden lies a peaceful little state park that many folks have never discovered.  Roland Cooper State Park, set along the waters of the Dannelly Reservoir is a serene and out-of-the-way spot perfect for camping, fishing, and slowing down.

Wrapped in tall pines and moss-draped oaks along the Alabama River backwaters, this little park offers quiet campsites, calm water, and some of the finest crappie fishing in the state.  It is the kind of peaceful, unhurried place where you can truly get away from the noise of the world.

Because it sits off in a quieter corner of Alabama, Roland Cooper never feels crowded, and that is exactly its charm.  Here you can pitch a tent by the water, cast a line at dawn, and watch the sun set gold over the reservoir with hardly another soul in sight.

Some of the loveliest places to camp are the quiet, lesser-known ones tucked away from the busy routes.  Roland Cooper is one of those hidden gems.
